Forest Fitness Circuits

Forest Fitness is a local functional fitness group class designed to assist in improving people’s strength, mobility, and general fitness. Our classes are all about exploring movement and exercises that help you move better and feel stronger in everyday life.

Mindful Embodiment

I draw from a range of practices in calisthenics, body awareness, breath work, primal/animal movement, nature connection and more. Plus, as a student of the Feldenkrais Method, I bring a somatics influence to our sessions, helping you build a deeper connection with your body through mindful movement.

I work with limited numbers to ensure personalised guidance and assistance with form and technique for every movement. I’m here to guide you through each exercise, offering tips, tweaks, and plenty of encouragement to ensure you’re getting the most out of your workout. Whether you're new to fitness or a gym veteran, I’ll tailor the exercises to fit your needs, making sure you’re comfortable and confident.

“I’m new to fitness training and being out in nature is a wonderful place to train. I’ve had some minor injuries in the past, but Samuel has known how to support me to work with these and build strength without causing strain. His knowledge and guidance around fitness is invaluable. I also enjoy training as part of the group. My strength and fitness have improved in a short time.”

Join the community

The sessions are made up of locals who meet up regularly for energizing workouts in an invigorating, community-driven atmosphere. We’ve got a supportive, fun-loving group who enjoy the outdoors, feel good about moving their bodies. Join us if you want to experience invigorating fitness in the wild, and maybe even take a plunge in the river with us!

When you book in, make sure to tell me if there is anything I should know about your physicality or past injuries that may affect you exercising.

Nature

As much as my work is focused on quality movement and empowering people, at its heart it is also about honouring nature. I consider myself to be in service to nature and I continuously seek ways to weave quality human movement into our connection with our natural environment. I am seeking to explore and share movement in our natural home, in a way that is in harmony with, and beneficial to the environment, and nourishes us as humans.

The health of the forests is of the utmost importance to me, and do all I can to protect the earth and plant life, using tree protectors for my equipment, being aware and caring of plant life and live roots, and much more, constantly educating myself and others on how to care for the environment that facilitates our movement practice .

“I think what I love most about the forest fitness sessions is the blend of nature-connection, somatics and functional fitness. I can pretty much guarantee that by the end of each session I will feel, yes, stronger, but also calmer, more embodied, freer in my movement, and connected to the natural world. I also really appreciate the sense of togetherness in the sessions, showing up with regularity in a supportive space and getting to know other people in the local area working on their fitness. I've often been put off by more 'gym bros' environments, which has been an obstacle to doing strength training for me; it really makes a difference to be in a supportive community where it really feels ok to 'be where you're at' and everyone is encouraging and celebrating each other, I think Samuel's approach really sets the tone for that and makes it the default culture”
